Illustrated by Nick East, the six-book series has already been translated into 19 languages, with a seventh installment set to be published later this year. The show follows a partially sighted cat who transforms her visual impairment into a “ninja superpower” using her heightened senses.
Alongside her brother and a trusted band of friends, Toto courageously protects the animals of London from villainous plots and disasters.
The upcoming Toto the Ninja Cat adaptation will consist of 52 episodes running at 11 minutes each, written by Nick Ostler and Mark Huckerby (Danger Mouse). Executive producing the project are Dermot O’Leary himself and his director wife, Dee Koppang O’Leary (The Crown, Bridgerton). Notably, this series is among the first projects to come out of “Studiocanal Stories,” an in-house label formed in 2024 dedicated to literary adaptations for film and television. Worldwide sales for the animated series will be jointly handled by Studiocanal and Superights.
