⚘️ Domenica and Luis explain how they reconciled while they were in the capital and eventually came to the beautiful decision to spend the rest of their lives together. Excited by the news, Nicole announces that she will prepare some coffee liqueur so everyone can celebrate. Since Ernesto already knew about their plans, Kiara asks why he hadn't mentioned anything earlier. Ernesto calmly explains that it wasn't his place to announce their engagement before they were ready to do so themselves. He adds that, as Domenica's future brother-in-law, he had already given the couple his blessing.While Nicolasa goes to prepare the coffee liqueur, Genaro comments that he only hopes Domenica's wedding plans won't interfere with her responsibilities at work, although he wishes her the best. Domenica politely thanks him before he excuses himself.
⚘️ Kiara also congratulates her cousin, although there is an obvious hint of bitterness behind her words. The conversation then shifts when Andres suggests that they wait for Pilar to return from her training classes before continuing the celebration. Kiara reveals that she recently discovered that her mother and Andres are dating. Happy for the couple, Domenica immediately hugs Andres and congratulates him on his relationship with Pilar. However, the gesture instantly irritates Kiara. She angrily demands to know how Domenica could possibly support such nonsense. Her sudden outburst shocks everyone, and all eyes turn toward her. Meanwhile, back at Gabriel's restaurant, San Genís continues examining the documents Blanca handed him. Realizing the seriousness of what he is reading, Blanca quickly asks him to stop. She worries that she may have accidentally given him the wrong file and questions how he can even be certain that the document is authentic. San Genís points out the official stamps, signatures, and seals, explaining that they prove the deed is genuine. After studying it further, he reveals that according to the document, the property now known as La Abandonada, which belongs to Domenica, ends just before the lagoon. Stunned, Blanca realizes what this means, the disputed land that Luis and Domenica have been fighting over actually belongs to Luis. San Genís gratefully tells her that without her, they might never have uncovered the truth. However, the discovery raises an even more troubling question: why did Domenica present a false deed in the first place?
⚘️ Elsewhere, Mercedes and Max retreat to Max's trailer out on the plains, where they can speak privately. Once inside, Mercedes admits that there is someone else she would much rather see Luis marry, Domenica's cousin, Kiara. Max immediately knows who she means and even compliments Kiara, describing her as an excellent woman. Mercedes then reveals her plan. She intends to pretend that she supports Luis and Domenica's engagement while secretly doing everything possible to delay their wedding. The longer the wedding is postponed, the more time Max will have to win Domenica back and destroy her relationship with Luis. Although Diana has already warned Mercedes that her schemes could eventually cost her her son, Mercedes insists that she would rather risk losing Luis than allow Domenica to become part of their family. Max completely agrees. He then suggests that whenever they need to discuss their plans from now on, they should meet at his trailer, where nobody will overhear them. Satisfied with their new alliance, Mercedes and Max shake hands.
⚘️ Back at La Abandonada, everyone moves into the living room and tries to reason with Kiara. Andres explains that, at his age, he isn't exactly going to ask Kiara for her mother's hand in marriage. He and Pilar are both adults who love each other, and that should be enough. Kiara argues that regardless of their age, she expected her mother to at least consult her before making such an important decision. Andres continues trying to explain himself, but Kiara dismisses his reasoning as old-fashioned, insisting that informing her beforehand would simply have been the respectful thing to do. Domenica steps in and tells Kiara to stop exaggerating because everything Andres has said is true. Andres calmly adds that he doesn't need anyone's permission to decide whom he wants to marry. However, when he affectionately refers to Kiara as his daughter, he unknowingly triggers another angry reaction from her. Kiara immediately tells him not to call her his daughter, firmly reminding him that her father is Benjamin Salerno. Sensing how tense the situation has become, Luis offers to leave and allow the family to resolve the matter privately. Andres immediately stops him, reminding Luis that he is now part of the family too. Kiara then turns to Luis and asks what he thinks about the relationship.
⚘️ After clearing his throat, Luis explains that he believes love can be found anywhere, at any time and at any age. Kiara quickly points out that Andres is much older than her mother, but Luis maintains that he fully supports their relationship. Just then, Pilar returns from her outing. Having overheard part of the argument before entering, she walks straight into the living room and scolds Kiara for the hurtful things she has been saying. Pilar reminds her daughter that her relationship with Andres was a mutual decision between two adults. She admits that she never imagined Kiara would speak so disrespectfully to Andres or criticize her for not asking permission before making such a personal decision. Kiara replies that if everyone expects her to simply forgive and accept everything, perhaps that will happen eventually. However, right now, she feels that nobody understands how hurt and uncomfortable she is about the situation.
⚘️ After looking around the room, Kiara decides it would be better for her to leave before she ruins the entire celebration. Domenica stops her, reminding her that this is supposed to be a reason to celebrate. Kiara coldly replies that if this is something worth celebrating to Domenica, then congratulations. She then storms out of the living room. On her way out, Kiara accidentally bumps into Nicole, causing her to lose her balance while carrying a tray filled with coffee liqueur. Fortunately, Domenica reacts quickly and catches the tray before anything spills. Confused, Nicole asks what happened, and Domenica quietly explains that Kiara simply cannot accept or approve of Pilar and Andres' relationship. Despite the uncomfortable moment, everyone eventually settles down, enjoys their drinks, continues talking and celebrates Domenica and Luis' engagement together.
⚘️ Meanwhile, San Genís prepares to leave with the deed so he can expose what they have discovered, but Blanca immediately stops him. She is terrified that if anyone learns she was the one who handed over the document, she could lose her job. San Genís tries to reason with her, explaining that now that they know the truth, he cannot simply pretend he never saw it. ⚘️ A few days later, everyone gathers at Luis' estate for the engagement dinner. The atmosphere is filled with happiness, laughter and excitement as family and friends come together to celebrate the couple, although Kiara can only manage a few half-hearted smiles as she pretends to share in everyone's joy. Luis eventually raises his glass and makes a toast to their future. Domenica follows with a toast of her own, happily raising her champagne glass as they celebrate their love and the life they are preparing to build together. But just as the celebration is in full swing, San Genís suddenly arrives with Blanca behind him. Without wasting any time, he reveals the shocking discovery about the true property deed and publicly accuses Domenica of presenting falsified documents in an attempt to steal Luis Fernando's land. In an instant, the joyful engagement celebration is thrown into complete chaos, leaving Domenica, Luis Fernando and everyone else in the room stunned by the accusation.
🔸️ Back at the engagement dinner, San Genís' shocking revelation immediately creates a rift between Luis and Domenica, as Luis struggles to understand whether the woman he loves has knowingly been deceiving him all along. Domenica desperately defends herself, insisting she had absolutely nothing to do with the forged documents. Meanwhile, Prudencio and Nicole begin arguing inside. For the first time, Prudencio admits that he is starting to wonder whether Domenica might actually be guilty. Nicole immediately defends her, insisting Domenica would never commit such a crime and warning that doubting Domenica also means doubting her judgment. Adelaida, who has quietly been watching them, finally approaches and asks why they have both been behaving so strangely lately. It is then revealed that Prudencio and Nicole have secretly been dating and have finally decided to make their relationship public.
🔸️ Outside, Pedro rushes over to comfort Domenica. Elsewhere in the house, Nieves hears someone groaning in pain and follows the sound, only to discover Osvaldo dusting himself off after apparently falling from a ledge. He asks for her help, claiming he may have broken a rib. Concerned, Nieves places his arm over her shoulder and helps him toward the entrance. Unfortunately, Pedro turns around at that exact moment and sees them together. Hurt by what he sees, he bitterly tells Nieves not to worry about him and to go be with her rich boyfriend. Nieves desperately tries to follow him, but Osvaldo stops her, reminding her that he still needs help. Later, Adelaida finds Pedro heartbroken. He admits that she may have been right about Nieves all along and now believes Nieves only wanted him because of his money before choosing the wealthier Osvaldo. Pretending to sympathize, Adelaida comforts him while quietly taking advantage of the misunderstanding.
🔸️ Unknown to everyone, Genaro had secretly witnessed the confrontation at the engagement dinner. The moment Domenica mentioned his name in connection with the forged documents, he quietly slipped away, with only Roque noticing his departure. Later, Roque confronts him near his quarters and asks whether he is truly happy after causing so much destruction. Genaro immediately threatens him, warning that if he says a single word, his wife and child will pay the price. Roque calmly replies that Genaro already knows he won't expose him. Instead, he intends to stand back and watch everything unfold. Genaro later heads to Gabriel's shop and confronts Cosme, demanding to know how the original documents resurfaced when Cosme had supposedly taken care of everything. Cosme insists he handled the matter and was even searching for someone to take the blame. Their discussion quickly turns into a heated argument, forcing Gabriel to step between them. Herminia soon rushes in after hearing the shouting, but Gabriel convinces her that it was merely a disagreement over work. Once she leaves, Gabriel closes the door so he and Cosme can privately discuss what to do next.
🔸️ Back at Luis' home, Luis, San, and Mercedes discuss the shocking discovery. Luis admits that Genaro could be responsible since he was the one who originally gave Domenica the documents. San, however, points out that forging official documents would require a considerable amount of money and argues that, among the people involved, Domenica appears to be the only one with enough resources to finance such an operation. Mercedes immediately uses this to her advantage, reminding Luis that she has always warned him that Domenica is dishonest. Despite everything, Luis still struggles to believe that Domenica could deliberately betray him. Nevertheless, San and Mercedes encourage him to launch a full investigation and take the matter to higher authorities. Whether he ultimately chooses to sue Domenica or have her arrested, however, remains entirely his decision. Later that night, Luis arrives at La Abandonada hoping to speak with Domenica. When he enters her office, Ernesto makes it clear that he won't leave Domenica alone if Luis intends to hurt or insult her again. Domenica gently reassures Ernesto and asks him to give them some privacy, painfully adding that Luis couldn't hurt her any more than he already had when he refused to believe her in front of everyone. Once they are alone, Luis asks whether she is finally ready to take responsibility for what she has done.
🔸️ Stunned, Domenica insists she has done absolutely nothing and cannot believe he came all the way to her home just to accuse her again. She admits she had hoped he came to tell her that he loved her and believed in her no matter what. Instead, Luis explains that every piece of evidence points toward her. He even suggests that perhaps she planned everything when they were enemies, only to later make him fall in love with her. Fighting back tears, Domenica tells him that if he wants to sue her or take legal action, then he should go ahead because she knows she is innocent. Meanwhile, Ernesto meets Pilar and Andres and asks whether they have seen Kiara since she left. Pilar assumes she probably went into town, but Ernesto angrily questions why Kiara would rather stay around Mercedes at Luis' estate than support her own family during such a difficult time. Pilar immediately challenges him, accusing him of sounding jealous and reminding him that he has no right to control what Kiara does. Ernesto insists he no longer feels that way about Kiara. Instead, he says it feels as though a blindfold has finally been removed from his eyes, and he doesn't like the person he is beginning to see. With that, he walks away.A
🔸️ Back in the office, Domenica tells Luis that as soon as Genaro returns, she will confront him and demand to know exactly where he obtained the documents. After that, Luis can do whatever he believes is necessary, but she insists once again that she is innocent. She desperately reminds him that Genaro is merely an employee and means nothing to her, while Luis is the man she truly loves. Luis, however, believes either Domenica instructed Genaro to obtain the documents or Genaro acted entirely on her behalf. He points out that Genaro has repeatedly shown violent tendencies and an obsessive attachment toward her, making him capable of doing almost anything for her. Eventually, Luis decides to leave. Andres stops him on his way out and warns that he may win the fight and gain a piece of land, but he could lose the love of his life in the process. He asks whether that is really a risk Luis is willing to take because he firmly believes Domenica is innocent. Luis sadly admits that the situation is just as painful for him as it is for Domenica before leaving.️ Elsewhere, San walks Blanca home after the disastrous engagement dinner. Blanca admits she is terrified that everyone will eventually discover she was the person who secretly gave him the documents. She points out that Kiara saw them arriving together and worries that, because Kiara is close to Gabriel, the information could eventually reach Cosme. She is also saddened by Ernesto's reaction after seeing her with San. San reassures her that she did the right thing and promises that he won't allow anything to happen to her or her family. Touched by his reassurance, Blanca kisses him on the cheek, wishes him goodnight, and heads inside.
🔸️ Back at La Abandonada, Domenica breaks down in tears as she tells Nicole that Luis believes she orchestrated everything from the beginning just to make him fall in love with her and reclaim his land. Nicole is furious and insists Luis has completely lost his senses. Wiping away her tears, Domenica says her priority now is discovering who truly planned everything and why. Only then can she prove her innocence and make Luis realize the terrible mistake he has made. However, she quietly admits that even if the truth comes out, she doesn't know whether she will ever be able to forgive Luis for doubting her this way. Meanwhile, Luis tells Pedro everything that happened. When Pedro asks whether he and Domenica have once again argued without resolving anything, Luis admits he now fears she may have planned everything from the start and even questions whether she ever truly loved him. Pedro jokingly suggests they could simply fall in love again, get married, and unite both estates. Luis sadly replies that he wishes things were really that simple. Pedro reflects that money, land, power, and property often create more problems than happiness and says he would always choose a simpler, more peaceful life. Luis admits he sometimes wishes he could be as easygoing as Pedro, but Pedro laughs and reminds him that he has problems too. He reveals that after finally learning the truth about his origins, he now believes he has lost Nieves to someone wealthier. Luis is surprised and asks him what happened.
🔸️ Meanwhile, Kiara meets Max at the community center and excitedly tells him that Luis and Domenica's engagement dinner ended in complete disaster. She explains that the newly discovered deed proves the disputed land belongs to Luis, while Domenica's documents now appear to be forged. Even better for their plans, everyone is beginning to suspect Domenica. Kiara suggests they could also use the situation to finally get rid of Genaro since he was the person who originally gave Domenica the documents. She reveals that Genaro has disappeared and isn't answering her calls. When Max says he still intends to visit Domenica, Kiara tells him to leave her alone for a while and let her cry. Their conversation soon turns flirtatious, and the two share a passionate kiss before falling onto the bed together. After Pedro finishes explaining his misunderstanding with Nieves, Luis admits he never expected her to behave that way. Pedro refuses to dwell on it, saying he simply hopes he will someday find the person truly meant for him. Luis tells him he hopes so too and sadly adds that he also hopes Pedro's love story doesn't end the way his relationship with Domenica appears to be ending. Luis then invites Pedro to return home, but Pedro politely declines, explaining that he is comfortable where he is and would rather avoid Prudencio and Mercedes for now. Luis respects his decision before revealing that he has decided to sue Domenica. He hopes the lawsuit won't affect Pedro's friendship with her.
🔸️ Pedro jokes that if things become too difficult, he won't return home, he'll probably just hide under a rock instead. Despite everything, the brothers manage to share a small laugh. Meanwhile, everyone gathers in Domenica's office to examine both sets of documents. Unfortunately, everything appears authentic, including the signatures, stamps, seals, and official markings. Domenica once again explains that Genaro was the person who delivered her documents, but every attempt to contact him has failed. She realizes that if they cannot find him soon, she could become the main suspect and may even face arrest. Back at Luis' home, Mercedes continues warning San that Domenica could deceive Luis again. San calmly explains that he has already spoken privately with Luis. Moments later, Luis arrives and announces that he has finally made his decision, he intends to handle everything legally. Mercedes immediately supports him, already talking about the compensation they could receive and how they could use it to improve their farm or begin a new life elsewhere. San reminds Luis that the final decision is his. Exhausted by everything, Luis cuts the conversation short, saying he has already made up his mind, before heading upstairs to rest.

◇ Domenica arrives at Luis Fernando’s estate in a drunken state and finds Max already standing face-to-face with Luis Fernando. Both men turn towards her as she appears at the entrance, and when Luis Fernando asks if she is drunk, Domenica admits that she is—but makes it clear that Luis Fernando, not Max, is the reason she is in that state. When Max tries to approach and touch her, she angrily pushes him away and rejects him before turning emotionally towards Luis Fernando, pleading with him to believe her. Max then reminds Domenica of the kiss they shared and asks if it truly meant nothing to her. Domenica firmly replies that it meant nothing, leaving Luis Fernando shocked to discover that they had kissed. With tears in her eyes, Domenica continues trying to convince Luis Fernando of her love for him. Seeing her condition, Luis Fernando holds her and decides to take her upstairs. Max attempts to interfere, but Luis Fernando refuses to listen, while Pedro restrains Max and sends him out of the estate. Upstairs, Luis Fernando takes Domenica into the shower and turns on the cold water in an attempt to sober her up. As the water soaks them both, the tension between them gives way to the feelings they have been struggling to suppress, and they begin kissing. However, the tenderness of the moment cannot erase the hurt and mistrust still standing between them.
◇ Their conversation soon turns painful when Luis Fernando confronts Domenica about Max. She admits that she kissed Max before she and Luis Fernando reconciled in Mexico, explaining that she only did it because she wanted to be certain of what she felt. Domenica insists that she has no doubts anymore and that she belongs only to Luis Fernando, but her explanation only hurts him further. Luis Fernando tells her that if she truly loved him, she would never have needed to test her feelings in the first place. Worse still, he begins to suspect that her sudden appearance at his estate has less to do with love and more to do with convincing him not to pursue the legal case against her. Hurt by the accusation, Domenica angrily promises to uncover the truth about the falsified title deed herself. She vows to find whoever is responsible and warns Luis Fernando that once her innocence is proven, he may regret the way he treated her—and by then, she may be the one unwilling to forgive him. Luis Fernando refuses to take her home himself and asks Pedro to drive her back to La Abandonada. While Domenica and Luis Fernando’s relationship continues to crumble, Pilar approaches Mercedes about Kiara. Pilar explains that although her daughter is very fond of Mercedes, she believes it would be better for them to create some distance until the problems between their families are resolved. Mercedes sees things very differently. She openly admits that she would rather have Kiara with Luis Fernando than Domenica and reveals that she has already promised Kiara her full support, especially now that Luis Fernando has supposedly discovered “who Domenica really is.” Uncomfortable with Mercedes taking advantage of the situation, Pilar asks her not to say anything more to Kiara until the property dispute is resolved. Mercedes promises to be discreet, but her preference is obvious. Later, she once again encourages Kiara to use this opportunity to get closer to Luis Fernando and comfort him.
◇ Back at La Abandonada, the falsified title deed quickly becomes Domenica’s biggest concern. Ernesto is equally alarmed and urgently seeks legal guidance as the possibility of criminal charges becomes more serious. Domenica, meanwhile, begins tracing where the document came from and questions Genaro directly. She demands to know where he obtained the title deed he personally handed to her, revealing that it has been confirmed as fake. Genaro immediately denies knowing anything about the forgery. He argues that Domenica herself asked him to obtain the documents and claims Cosme was the person who gave them to him. Domenica is furious. The forged deed has not only damaged her position in the property dispute but has now placed her freedom at risk, and she no longer knows whom she can trust. Genaro swears that he would give his life for her, but Domenica coldly replies that she does not want his life—she wants the truth. Unable to overlook what has happened, she fires him from La Abandonada. Genaro is stunned and humiliated by his dismissal, blaming Cosme for putting him in such a terrible position. Even as he prepares to leave, however, he refuses to accept that his connection to La Abandonada is over. He secretly instructs an ally who wants to leave with him to remain behind instead and become his eyes and ears, keeping him informed about everything happening there. Domenica, meanwhile, decides she cannot continue working with someone she no longer trusts and appoints Pedro to take over the foreman’s responsibilities. She also gives Pedro Genaro’s final payment to deliver to him. When Pedro does so, Genaro is met with little sympathy; he is reminded that the way he has mistreated others has finally come back to him. Genaro leaves bitter and resentful, convinced that he will eventually find his way back.
◇ The legal situation grows increasingly dangerous. The falsified deed may have seriously weakened Domenica’s case concerning the property boundaries, but Ernesto and the lawyers realize that losing the land dispute is now the least of her problems. Forging and presenting an official document could constitute a serious criminal offence carrying the possibility of imprisonment. A formal complaint is allowed to proceed, and tensions rise between those representing the opposing sides. Pedro insists that although Genaro and Cosme may be involved, he genuinely believes Domenica had no idea the document was fraudulent. Luis Fernando’s side, however, argues that personal beliefs cannot replace evidence. Even the judge makes it clear that neither friendship nor personal feelings will be permitted to influence the proceedings. Luis Fernando himself is forced to confront what pursuing the complaint could mean for Domenica. Pedro warns him that this is no longer simply about proving who owns the disputed land—Domenica could actually end up in prison. Although there is discussion that she might be granted bail, her lack of money makes even that uncertain. Luis Fernando remains adamant that the matter is now in the hands of the court, but Pedro questions whether he truly understands what he is risking. ◇ Meanwhile, the net begins tightening around Genaro and Cosme as well. News arrives that criminal complaints have been filed against Domenica, Cosme and Genaro, sending Genaro into a rage. His first instinct is to blame Luis Fernando for threatening the woman he is obsessed with, but Fuensanta reminds him that he should be more concerned about saving himself. Genaro admits that protecting Domenica is not his only concern—if she falls, his own interests and business dealings could fall with her. The conspirators begin discussing how they can escape the investigation, and the possibility of finding a third person to carry the blame becomes increasingly attractive. Their alliance, however, is already cracking. Genaro feels Cosme’s incompetence caused the entire disaster, while Cosme resents Genaro’s attempts to control him. Fuensanta proves to be far calmer and more calculating than her husband. When Cosme tells her that the authorities have discovered the fraudulent title deed and that he, Genaro and Domenica are being targeted, she immediately begins thinking of ways to protect him. Cosme is visibly shaken, especially after the governor attempts to contact him, but Fuensanta reassures him that she will find a solution. She gives him another drink, prepares what he should say and begins considering who might help them escape the consequences. Yet beneath her affectionate reassurances is a much colder calculation. She knows that if Cosme falls, she could fall with him, and she begins thinking about what his absence would mean for her own position and influence. Even Genaro recognizes that Fuensanta has always been the real strategist behind Cosme’s power.
◇ Another mystery develops around important documents that Cosme had entrusted to someone for safekeeping and which were later placed in Blanca’s care. When the envelope suddenly disappears, Blanca becomes frightened that she could lose her job because she had been specifically instructed to guard it. The missing papers raise further questions when it becomes clear that they were important to Cosme. Conversations about them are overheard, and information begins circulating that Cosme may be connected to a wider scheme involving the attempt to take Luis Fernando’s land. Fuensanta eventually makes a dramatic show of being disappointed in her husband, telling others that Cosme has betrayed not only her confidence but the trust of the entire village. Behind closed doors, however, she remains deeply involved in finding a way to protect him. Genaro eventually confronts Cosme directly, furious that his mistakes have dragged all of them into criminal trouble. Drunk, angry and feeling betrayed, Genaro announces that he is prepared to walk away—but not without money—and accuses Cosme of turning against him. Cosme fires back that he did not betray him because the authorities have filed charges against him too. Their confrontation becomes heated, but beneath the insults both men understand that they are still useful to each other. Cosme needs Genaro’s cunning, while Genaro knows Cosme’s position gives him power. They therefore begin working on another plan, hoping to find someone suitable to take the blame so that they can save themselves. Even with everything collapsing around him, Genaro stubbornly refuses to abandon his obsession with Domenica or his desire to gain control of the property.
◇ Max also refuses to disappear from Domenica’s life. He meets Pilar to deal with the money he owes her and Kiara, promising that once his fixed-term funds become available, he will repay everything. He also insists that he intends to return the millions he obtained from Domenica through deception, even if she refuses to accept them. ◇ Elsewhere, Kiara’s personal struggles continue. When she is approached about providing medical consultations at the social centre, she initially becomes defensive, believing Domenica may be behind the request. She is told firmly that not every decision revolves around Domenica and that several sick children are waiting because there are already numerous appointments backed up. Realizing that innocent children genuinely need her professional help, Kiara’s attitude changes. She agrees to attend to them and becomes emotional during the conversation. Despite the tension and unresolved feelings between them, she is reassured that she will not be abandoned when she genuinely needs support. At the same time, Mercedes continues quietly nurturing her hope that Kiara will eventually replace Domenica in Luis Fernando’s life. Meanwhile, Fuensanta puts her plan into motion against Cosme. With Genaro’s influence and involvement, Cosme is killed, and his death is made to look like a suicide. The following morning, everyone gathers at the municipal office, where they are stunned by the news that Cosme is dead. It is also discovered that he left behind a note believed to be a suicide letter. However, the contents of the letter are not revealed, as it has not yet been read, leaving everyone waiting to discover what Cosme supposedly wrote before his death.

⚘️ At his estate, Kiara dramatically succeeds in luring the Olodo Luis into consulting at the community center. As they talk, Kiara mentions that Luis once said he didn't want to deal with her because he wanted to avoid conflict with his ex, her cousin, adding that, honestly, she doesn't want that either. Luis draws her into a hug, soothing her and telling her not to cry because he will always be there whenever she needs him. Kiara smiles with her head resting against his chest. When the hug ends, she tells him she will understand if he ever changes his mind, but Luis assures her that won't happen and says helping at the center will actually do him a lot of good. Before leaving, Kiara thanks him and asks if he wants to visit the center to see if anything is missing for the consultation. Luis agrees. Meanwhile, after the deed is done, Genaro and Feunsanta stand away from the desk in Cosme's office, staring at the wads of cash arranged on top of it. It is money Cosme planned to stash away before being caught by the police, but he never got the chance. They decide to plant the already-written suicide note bearing Cosme's signature and handwriting. At La Abandonada, Nicolasa draws Max towards the door, telling him she cannot defend him. Max insists that he only wants to help her and isn't there to talk about love. Nicolasa tells him that what happens to Domenica is none of his concern, nor are the issues between her and Luis. Although Max argues otherwise, Pedro walks in and asks Nicolasa if she needs help throwing him out. However, it doesn't come to that, as Max eventually leaves. In the kitchen, Adelaida is preparing food when Simon enters and asks if there is anything left to eat. When she jokes about him being upset and he prepares to leave, she asks what is wrong. Simon tells her that he knows Pedro likes her, but she has already said the two of them cannot work out. Feeling bad for being the reason for his suffering, Adelaida is quickly swept off her feet as Simon professes his love for her with sweet words before kissing her. Elsewhere, Osvaldo visits the community center to see Nieves. They talk briefly before he surprises her with a goodbye kiss. Later that night, while Gabriel and Herminia are talking, Dado informs his father that Genaro has arrived and is sleeping there. When Gabriel meets with Genaro, Genaro explains that he has been fired and is being accused by Luis of forging the land deed, something that could send him to prison. He insists that Cosme gave him the deed, so he had no idea it was fake.
⚘️ The next morning, Luis arrives at the community center and looks around the entire place. Kiara comes out from the back and asks if he likes it. Luis says he does, describing the space as modest but suitable for what they need. When he asks when he can start, Kiara explains that the budget is tight and her family is facing financial difficulties. She also reveals that the center is run by her and her mother. Luis tells her not to worry and says he is happy to contribute. He adds that he has an electrocardiograph at home, which he received as payment for saving Max's life, and he will gladly donate it to the center. Kiara then admits that she feels bad seeing him so upset over everything happening with Domenica. Luis says he was prepared to give Domenica everything and that she didn't need to deceive him the way she did. Kiara comforts him, assuring him that everything will be fine. She thanks him for trusting her and tells him she isn't like her cousin. Luis thanks her in return. Hours later, Kiara calls Silvia and tells her to find more sick people, especially children or anyone who needs medical attention, so Luis can remain at the center longer instead of returning home. She admits that she felt completely at home with him the previous day and doesn't want that to change. When Silvia asks about Domenica's arrest, Kiara confidently says it will happen soon and that Luis is now so disappointed in Domenica that he will eventually fall into her trap. Silvia jokingly suggests that her bed is the trap she means, making them both laugh.
⚘️ At home, Luis tells Mercedes about his plans. Mercedes is happy that he is returning his attention to medicine because she believes it is his true calling. Luis explains that he never intended to abandon his profession but simply wanted to focus on the farm for a while, although everything eventually went wrong. Mercedes says she is at least happy that he has finally realised she was right about Domenica and asks how San is handling the complaint. Luis sighs and says that if she is asking when Domenica will be arrested, the answer is soon, before walking away. Roque then passes by, and Mercedes calls him over. She instructs him to tell everyone, including the staff, that Luis will now be attending to patients at the community center. When Roque asks why and whether Luis isn't already attending to people there at the estate, Mercedes simply says it is better this way and orders him to do as he is told. At City Hall, Ernesto is waiting at Blanca's desk when she arrives. He quickly explains that he saw her calls but couldn't answer because he was in the capital. Blanca tells him not to worry because she needed help with something at the time but has already resolved it. Ernesto mentions San as the person who helped her. Blanca confirms it, excuses herself, and says she needs to work. As she walks past him, Ernesto asks if they are no longer friends because of what is happening with Domenica and the fake documents. Blanca says she prefers to stay out of the situation because she doesn't want trouble. Ernesto assures her that she won't get any trouble from him.
⚘️ In the kitchen at La Abandonada, while Nicolasa and Domenica prepare a meal, Nicolasa tells her she has been thinking about Max's claim that he was kidnapped for extortion and abandoned Domenica at the wedding to save her life. Although Max isn't a saint, Nicolasa believes there is a possibility he is telling the truth. Domenica admits she hasn't really considered that possibility or the fact that she may have been unfair to Max, which worries her because she already has enough problems with Luis. Nicolasa reassures her that she is innocent and will soon prove it. Domenica recalls Luis warning her that she will be arrested, admitting that it frightens her. Nicolasa agrees that she probably will be arrested but suggests that she speak to Luis so he can understand. Domenica refuses, saying she doesn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry. She has already begged him to believe her, and his refusal hurts even more than Max's betrayal because Luis doesn't trust her and cannot overcome the distrust he feels towards her. Meanwhile, at City Hall, Ernesto tells Blanca he is under the impression that she and San are dating—or perhaps she simply tripped and accidentally landed with her lips on his. Blanca replies that she doesn't go around kissing every man she meets and explains that she and San are simply getting to know each other. She tells Ernesto not to take it the wrong way, reminding him that, as she has said before, some men are bold while others aren't. Ernesto suddenly moves towards her and kisses her. When they pull apart, Blanca asks what that was for. Ernesto says he has simply taken the bold step she was talking about. Blanca tells him she needs to return to work and that they will talk later. As she pulls away, she smiles slightly and heads towards Cosme's office. The moment she opens the doors and sees Cosme's condition, she screams and buries her face against Ernesto's body.
⚘️ At his rundown house, Max searches everywhere for his necklace while Kiara watches. He asks if she is sure he didn't leave it at her place, explaining that he feels incomplete without it. He knows she thinks it is superstition, but he genuinely believes the necklace protects him. Kiara tells him to forget the superstition because everything is going perfectly: Luis is becoming increasingly distant from Domenica, and luck is clearly on their side. Max mentions that Luis wants to send Domenica to jail. Kiara says that is even better because Domenica will never forgive Luis afterwards, and if Max stands by her, he can become her hero. She reminds him that luck favours people who refuse to give up. Meanwhile, Fuensanta walks down the passage stairs, repeatedly looking around suspiciously. Blanca and Ernesto suddenly run towards her, calling her name. Fuensanta asks what they want and whether they have come to explain why her husband didn't come home to sleep, angrily calling him a bastard. She then looks at Ernesto and asks whether he isn't Domenica's lawyer and if he has come to tell her that he wants to sue Cosme. They both say no. Blanca then tells her that Cosme has shot himself. Fuensanta initially doesn't understand and asks to see him, but Blanca stops her and finally tells her that Cosme is dead. Overwhelmed by the news, Fuensanta faints, and Ernesto immediately catches her.
⚘️ At the same time, while Genaro eats breakfast, he tells Gabriel that although he has been fired, at least his niece still works at the community center. Gabriel then warns him that he no longer wants his son involved with him because he fears he will become tangled up in Genaro's problems. Elsewhere, San gets off the phone and informs Luis and Mercedes that the warrant for Domenica's arrest has been issued and that she will soon be taken into custody. Luis lowers his head, clearly wondering whether he is doing the right thing. Mercedes notices his hesitation and assures him that he is making the right decision and merely demanding justice. San apologises but says that is simply how things have to proceed. Suddenly, he receives a call from Ernesto, who informs him that the main culprit has been discovered and that Cosme is responsible for forging everything. Meanwhile, Kiara approaches her mother, wondering who rang the bell. Pilar asks why Kiara didn't tell her that Luis was at the center the previous night, reminding her of what Luis once said about not wanting to be around her. Kiara explains that Luis accepted her offer without hesitation and that the previous doctor could only come once a month. She then walks away. At the Mirror Estate, Diana tells Mercedes she is happy that Luis has resumed practising medicine but doesn't like where—or with whom—he is working. Mercedes rolls her eyes. Diana adds that she believes Kiara is hypocritical and very good at hiding her true intentions. Mercedes tells her not to ruin her day or speak badly about the only person she appreciates in Santa Theresa.
⚘️ San, Luis, Ernesto, Fuensanta, and Blanca gather at City Hall while police officers move throughout the building. An officer eventually approaches and informs them that evidence has been discovered linking Cosme to the falsification of the land documents. He has apparently taken his own life with a gun and left behind a suicide letter. After the officer leaves, San reads the letter aloud. In it, Cosme takes full responsibility for sabotaging the bean plantation and falsifying the deed. He claims that he wanted the land and hoped to purchase it at a reasonable price, so Domenica lured him into doing everything. Meanwhile, at La Abandonada, Andre and Nicolasa worry that Domenica will be taken into custody that day. Soon, the estate is surrounded by police officers, who handcuff Domenica. However, before they can place her inside the police car, Luis, Ernesto, and San arrive just in time. They quickly explain that a terrible mistake has been made and present evidence showing that Domenica is innocent. Ernesto contacts the chief of command, who confirms that everything is being rectified and instructs the officers to release Domenica. Her handcuffs are removed, but Mercedes, who has also arrived and witnessed everything, still calls out to her and tells her that it doesn't really matter. Domenica looks directly at Luis and tells him that now that she has been proven innocent, she hopes he feels fulfilled with the decisions he has made.
⚘️ Simon then takes the opportunity to ask Prudencio for his blessing, explaining that he and Adelaida are now dating. Prudencio gives the couple his blessing. Hours later, a memorial is held for Cosme. Everyone gathers while people speak quietly in the background. Fuensanta stands at the front crying and wiping her tears with a white cloth. Gabriel and Herminia approach, and Herminia comforts her friend, explaining that they have heard what happened and that the news is already spreading throughout the village. Fuensanta says that is probably why the governor hasn't attended, because of everything Cosme has done. Herminia sympathises with her, saying she cannot imagine how Fuensanta feels knowing that Cosme fooled both Genaro and Domenica. Fuensanta says she only hopes people won't judge her for her husband's actions. Herminia assures her that they won't and promises to let people know that Fuensanta had nothing to do with Cosme's dirty dealings. Gabriel then approaches, gently embraces Fuensanta, and offers his condolences. Soon afterwards, Genaro arrives. As everyone looks at him, he tells Fuensanta that he cannot believe what he has heard and insists that if he had known the truth, he would never have given Domenica the fake documents he collected from Cosme. Fuensanta breaks down in tears.
⚘️ Back at La Abandonada, everyone gathers as Domenica announces that she has decided to end her relationship with Luis. Andres reminds her that he already warned Luis that he might gain a piece of land but lose Domenica in the process. Kiara asks whether Domenica will really be able to forget Luis so easily, but Pilar tells her not to ask inappropriate questions. Domenica assures her aunt that the question doesn't bother her and makes it clear that forgiving Luis is out of the question. What hurts her most is that Max supports her while Luis condemns her. Kiara suggests that perhaps Luis doesn't love Domenica as deeply as she believed. Pilar then tells Kiara that since she is so concerned about her cousin, she should tell Domenica about her decision regarding the medical office at the community center and hear what Domenica thinks. Meanwhile, back at the memorial, Genaro privately asks Fuensanta where he should send the other half of the money. Fuensanta questions him, insisting she knows nothing about another half and explaining that she gave him the money simply to keep it for her so she wouldn't be caught or appear suspicious. Unknown to them, Gabriel is nearby listening to their conversation. Fuensanta also reminds Genaro that he once talked about taking back the estate and asks whether, with everything they have planned, he intends to share it with her. Genaro simply tells her that he knows Domenica won't remain there for long, but at least Fuensanta will be by his side. Realising they are discussing too much in public, Fuensanta suggests they continue the conversation another time.
⚘️ Kiara explains to Domenica that the doctor she originally hired bailed at the last minute, leaving her with no choice but to ask Luis to attend to a patient who had already been waiting for medical attention. Domenica says there is no problem and that Kiara could simply have explained what happened so she could cancel Luis. She then excuses herself, saying she wants to call the orphanage, and leaves. Andres asks Kiara about her relationship with Luis' family. Kiara tells him not to worry or imagine anything absurd, reminding him that everyone already knows she is very close to Mercedes. Besides, she adds, her interest in Luis isn't new. She picks up her bag and leaves, with Pilar soon following. Elsewhere, Gabriel confronts Genaro and reveals that he knows Genaro was actually the person who requested the fake deed from Cosme, contrary to the story he has been telling everyone. He also reminds Genaro that he once promised Cosme that if he was ever arrested, he would bail him out. Genaro asks what difference any of that makes now before threatening Gabriel, reminding him that he wasn't present when Gabriel said he would happily tell Fuensanta everything he knew. Osvaldo suddenly appears behind them and says he has heard what happened. Genaro places an arm around his neck and ominously warns that unexpected things happen to people, which is why everyone needs to be careful. He then turns towards Gabriel and asks if he agrees.
⚘️ Back at home, Luis and Mercedes argue. Luis tries to explain that Domenica is innocent and that Cosme wanted both her downfall and the land, which is why he gave Genaro the fake deed. Mercedes says she doesn't care that Domenica is innocent and insists that she is simply the worst. She also points out that Domenica sides with Max instead of Luis. Luis says he cannot believe Mercedes is so difficult to reason with and admits that he deserves everything Domenica said to him. Even though she has declared that she will never forgive him, Luis believes it is still his responsibility to ask for her forgiveness. He then walks away.
⚘️ In the kitchen, Adelaida prepares a meal for Pedro. After he finishes eating, she asks how he likes it, and Pedro compliments the food. She then asks whether he has reconciled with Nieves and if they are speaking again. Pedro says they haven't and asks whether reconciling with Nieves would mean Adelaida would want to date him. Before she can respond, Simon arrives carrying a beautiful bouquet of flowers. He approaches Adelaida, embraces her, gives her the flowers, and kisses her cheeks. After greeting Pedro, Simon excitedly announces that he and Adelaida are dating, that he has already spoken with Prudencio, and that he has even started making plans for their wedding. Pedro's mood immediately changes. Simon notices and asks what Pedro and Adelaida were discussing before he arrived. Pedro quickly claims they were talking about a bull that has been left unattended and could become dangerous if placed in a difficult situation. Before leaving, Pedro congratulates them both.
⚘️ Meanwhile, Max arrives at La Abandonada and waits outside for a long time before Nicolasa finally steps out and asks whether he has really been waiting there all that time. Max teases her, saying she probably likes him a little more than she did before. Nicolasa admits that may be true but warns him not to bother trying to use her to get to Domenica. Even when Max asks her to help convince Domenica, Nicolasa reminds him that she doesn't control Domenica's heart and tells him not to bother because he is extremely annoying. Max insists on accompanying her wherever she is going, as long as he isn't forced to remain there. Meanwhile, at the Mirror Estate, Mercedes sits on the couch as Luis packs his belongings into a suitcase and leaves home. He soon arrives at the community center and tells Kiara that he has left his house and is considering staying there.
⚘️ Meanwhile, Max and Nicolasa walk across the field until they reach the point where Nicolasa is supposed to meet Domenica, who is waiting for her on the other side. Max then continues on his way. Unknown to Nicolasa, the raging bull Pedro mentioned earlier is nearby and suddenly charges towards her. Domenica screams for Nicolasa to run towards her while Max desperately tries to distract the animal. His attempt succeeds, but the bull immediately turns its attention towards him. Max runs across the field as fast as he can, but he cannot outrun it. Within moments, the bull catches up with him and charges into him from behind, violently sending Max into the air before he crashes to the ground unconscious.
Episode 38
● Domenica and Nicolasa rush towards where Max lies. They shake him and call out his name, trying to wake him up. When he finally wakes up, they help him into the truck Domenica drove in so they can get him some medication. At the community center, Kiara and Luis continue talking about the issues between him and his mother. Luis also shows his gratitude to Kiara for letting him stay, assuring her that it is only temporary until he finds a place of his own. Kiara tells him that eventually, he and his mother will have to reconcile. As they continue talking, Kiara hugs him, thanking him for agreeing to stay and attend to the patients. Just then, Nieves walks past. Kiara calls out to her and tells her to assist Luis and prepare the room where Pedro had stayed for him. Meanwhile, at the Luis’s estate, Mercedes sits deep in thought when Diana brings her tea to help with her stress. Mercedes pushes it aside and tells her that if she really wants to help with her stress, she should prepare a black coffee instead of the tea Prudencio usually makes. Diana tells her that she shouldn't blame the tea or her, adding that her son has left and, with all due respect, she'd asked her before: what if Domenica was innocent? She also reminds Mercedes that she had advised her to concentrate on making peace with Luis and Domenica, but instead, she added fuel to the fire, and now she is in a rift with her son. Mercedes gets angry and stands up, yelling at Diana that she had better watch her next words if she really wants to keep her job. Diana apologises but still tries to make a point about Mercedes' mistake in making a deal with Max. Mercedes then tells her to get out.
🔹️ At La Abandonada, Nicolasa and Domenica have just entered with Max over their shoulders as they call for assistance. A staff member and Pedro show up to help. When Pedro asks what happened, Nicolasa tells him that a bull had charged towards her, but Max came in time to take the hit for her. She tells them to take him upstairs while she prepares a tonic for his wounds. As they leave, Domenica turns to Nicolasa and sighs, saying she wouldn't know what to do if something had happened to her. Nicolasa smiles and tells her that it isn't her time to go because she still needs her there, assuring her that everything will be alright. They say this to each other as they hug.
🔹️ Still at the funeral home, Feunsanta attends to the guests who have come to offer their condolences while she weeps. Blanca walks in with a white bouquet of flowers. She lays them on the coffin and begins to cry. Herminia stands beside her and asks what's wrong. Blanca tells her that she and Cosme never really saw eye to eye and had always had their differences and fights. She wishes they had been on good terms before he left. Herminia tries to comfort her. Afterwards, Blanca excuses herself to go get some fresh air. Just then, the memorial band comes in to play for the service. In his room, Max sits shirtless, awaiting medication as Domenica sits beside him. As they talk, she expresses her gratitude and thanks him for what he did. Max tells her that she doesn't need to worry and that he knows Nicolasa is like a mother to her. While he speaks, he moves closer to Domenica, intending to kiss her, but just then, Andres walks in and stops. Domenica stands up and tells Andres that she was only thanking Max. Andres says the same and tells Max that he appreciates what he did for Nicolasa.
🔹️ Meanwhile, Pedro and Nicolasa tease each other as they discuss what happened. At the community center, Pilar yells at her daughter, asking her why she'd allowed Luis to stay when they had already discussed her keeping away from matters concerning Luis and Domenica. Kiara tells her that she didn't do anything and that Luis came to her. Instead, she says they should think about the advantage of having him there. With Luis staying, they have access to a doctor, and he has agreed to help attend to the sick patients. Pilar tells her that she doesn't believe a word she's saying and accuses Kiara of planning everything because she wants Luis for herself. Luis shows up just then. Kiara tells him that she'd just told her mother about his stay and his assistance with the patients. Luis thanks Pilar for their hospitality and assures her that he's only staying temporarily and will begin attending to the patients tomorrow. Pilar tells him it's alright and that he can look for a place of his own so he can have his privacy. She then excuses herself and leaves.
🔹️ After checking up on Max and having a little chat, Max thinks Domenica will spend some time with him since he's hurt. However, Domenica tells him that if he needs help, Nicolasa or anyone else will be happy to assist him. She then leaves. While heading downstairs, she runs into Andres. She tells him that she'll be returning Luis' things and, when Andres asks her about the tension between her and Max, she tells him it was nothing. She says she's capable of knowing how she feels and that she feels nothing for Max. In the end, Andres tells her he'll support her no matter what decision she makes. Afterwards, Luis is on a call with San, telling him everything that has happened. Luis complains about his mother being unbearable and so determined to make Domenica the enemy. When San asks him where he plans to stay, San and Ernesto, who have been standing nearby, are surprised by his answer. At the city hall, Gabriel waits for his son when Osvaldo shows up and tells him that he'd just returned from putting a loose bull back where it belonged. When Gabriel asks him where he'd been, Osvaldo explains what happened. After clearing up the misunderstanding, Osvaldo tells his father that at least he's happy that he finally got to see that Genaro was innocent. After everything, Gabriel tells Osvaldo that he doesn't want him hanging around with Genaro, which causes an argument between father and son.
🔹️ Kiara is on a call with Mercedes, telling her everything, including how Luis is doing and that he's staying at the center. Mercedes obviously roots for her and repeatedly tells her that her son is in good hands now. While they talk on the phone, Pilar hides around the corner and overhears what Kiara is saying. Gabriel and Osvaldo still have an unsettled argument. Osvaldo asks why Gabriel doesn't want him hanging around with Genaro. Gabriel tells him it's for his own good, but Osvaldo becomes furious and walks away. Meanwhile, Nicolasa prepares something in the kitchen when Prudencio sneaks up behind her to surprise her with a kiss. He asks how she is and soon learns about everything that happened with the bull. Their conversation eventually ends with Prudencio asking Nicolasa to marry him, and she agrees.
🔹️ At the funeral, Agatha, a friend of Feunsanta, says a few words as she addresses everyone there. Feunsanta also speaks, thanking everyone for coming and expressing hope that they will not judge her based on Cosme's past. When Pilar returns to La Abandonada, she tells Andres about her worries. Andres initially wants to confront Kiara, but Pilar stops him, telling him that she needs to gather more evidence first. Andres hopes that whatever Kiara is doing doesn't cause a rift between Domenica and herself. Domenica attends the memorial and has a talk with Feunsanta, during which Feunsanta apologises for what Cosme had done. After speaking with Feunsanta, Domenica sees Genaro standing in a corner. She walks towards him, apologises, and asks for his forgiveness. Genaro tells her that he was really hurt by her. Even as they head home, they continue discussing what happened. Eventually, Domenica gives Genaro his job back on one condition: his harsh and abusive behaviour must stop from that moment onward.
🔹️ Upstairs, Pilar applies the tonic to Max's wounds while they converse. During their conversation, she discovers that the necklace she'd found belongs to him, but she doesn't say anything. Instead, she hurriedly leaves the room. On her way out, she bumps into Andres and tells him she won't make it in time for dinner, promising to make it up to him when she returns. She then kisses him goodbye. When Andres goes upstairs and asks Max what happened, Max tells him he has no clue. He prepares to leave, but Andres tells him not to and asks him to stay at least until morning because of his wounds. Outside a café, Ernesto meets up with Blanca. As they talk, she tells him how she's been feeling and admits that she believes it's her fault because she was the one who gave San the original land deed, which caused all this mess. Ernesto is surprised by her confession.
🔹️ Meanwhile, Domenica goes to the community center to return a few things that belong to Luis. She had first gone to his house and gotten into an argument with his mother before coming there, thinking Luis was there because of work. However, she discovers that he has left home and that Kiara has taken him in. After having an argument with Luis, he leaves. Just as Domenica is about to go, Kiara calls out to her. Domenica immediately confronts Kiara for not telling her that she offered Luis a place to stay at the community center. Kiara explains that she only did so because Luis had moved out of his estate, before questioning why Domenica even cares when she has already made it clear that she no longer wants him in her life. Then, without mincing words, Kiara drops the bombshell that she still loves Luis and intends to fight for his love now that Domenica has given up on him. The revelation leaves Domenica completely shocked. 😲
